My First Visit to South Africa by Moshe Katz
Back in December 2010 the first IKI group arrived from South Africa: Tyler, Allan, Mike, Grant, Alex. When they left they said that they would invite me to teach and tour in South Africa, and so they did. It was a wonderful, incredible experience. We enjoyed five days of training, eight hours per day (minus lunch), and three days of seeing the country and learning about the local culture. Like Israel, South Africa is very different when you are there in person.
I met so many wonderful, kind, people. One day as we were walking, a man who was working on the street, said, "Peace unto you!", what more can one ask for.
The great advantage here is that we had five full days at our disposal. My first day - I was able to rest. This was a real treat, instead of getting off the plane and going straight to teaching I was able to relax. Having wonderful accommodations and wonderful hosts - certainly made for a better and more relaxed teacher.
With five full days I felt I did not need to rush. Every topic was given suffice int time, every student was given attention.
Several of the instructors and students had already been to Israel, and as members of IKI had been training with our videos and DVD's for some time. All this meant that by the time I had begun my seminar they were already well prepared to receive the material.
Another great advantage was the previous training and expertise of the instructors. Des and Jacques in particular, had many questions ready for me - questions that had been troubling them for some time. This added to our training: they came very motivated and ready to learn. Great students make the teacher look good.

I found the situation here ideal; the instructors, members of IKI and experienced martial artists, had been working with the students for some time, as such, they did the ground work. When I arrived the students were quickly able to pick up and apply what I was teaching. I found the group to be talented and very easy to work with.
The wonderful attitude began with the instructors and was absorbed by the students. As we say in Israel - the teacher was licking honey!

"If I had to sum up Moshe's visit and his absolutely inspirational and brilliant training with us in one word, it would be: PRICELESS. Thanks to Moshe and to all those who took part. Fantastic for us at EDA to be led by a man who is not a thug, a man who embodies the spirit of Krav Maga- power with compassion, wisdom with humility. Let's get training!" Annie took me on a hot air balloon to see more of her beautiful town.
Many of the students came with years of martial arts training, including Krav Maga training, and even police work. All had trained under IKI instructors for some time, plus of course they put in five days of intensive training with me. As such, many were well prepared to be ranked in IKI. All ranks were solidly earned, and I know this is only the beginning.
