Krav Maga Instructors South Africa
Tony Hardy, Durban, Kwa-Zulu Natal
"I began Martial Arts training in 1988; after achieving a 2nd Dan in GoJu Ryu Karate, I dabbled in full contact Karate before starting Kickboxing where I obtained a Black Belt as well.
Although I competed successfully for a number of years in Karate, Kickboxing and full contact Karate, my emphasis was more on the traditional elements of the styles.
Taught Karate for over 6 years where my passion for sharing this knowledge was born.
Other Martial Arts I have been exposed to include Kendo, Wing Chun and Ju-Jitsu.
Working in the security industry for 5 years I had many opportunities to combat test techniques, identifying those that work from those that are less than effective or only effective in certain situations… I soon discovered that a large percentage of traditional techniques aren’t practical.
I was also frustrated by the amount of time required to convey skills to students looking for an expedient solution to self preservation needs…
I believe that ongoing development and improvement is essential in an environment that is constantly changing and adapting... for me... this is the space filled by Krav Maga"
On July 10, 2012 Tony was promoted to Assistand Instructor and is fully recognized as an IKI instructor.

Elite Defence Academy
Instructors Tyler Collins and Alan Mann, along with several of their students, came to Israel for an intensive ten day program.
The program included daily training in all aspects of Krav Maga as well as touring sites relevant to the history and culture that produced Krav Maga.
Training began each morning at 9:30 and usually continued to 11 p.m.
Tyler and Alan were both tested and promoted to the rank of Phase One Instructor in IKI Krav Maga.
Tyler and Alan return to South Africa with a renewed dedication and a commitment to spreading authentic, reality based, Krav Maga. They are now certified to teach our system in their home country.
As members of IKI they will be receiving all updates on techniques, strategies, and tactics as they develop in Israel.
We look forward to continued cooperation between our groups in Israel and South Africa and are proud to have Elite Defense Academy as a member in good standing of our organization.
In July 2011 I had the privilege of visiting EDA in Johannesburg, spending eight packed days. I am very impressed with all aspects of their training.
