A Little Boy

I saw a little boy. And I thought of another little boy.

The little boy stood there, small, frail, wondering what the world is like, wondering what the future would bring, the unknown, the unknowable, just a little boy facing an entire world. 

A little boy, thinking of all the children murdered, mutilated, taken hostage by a cruel and vicious enemy, wondering what kind of future lay ahead. What kind of a world is it where little children can be taken hostage?

Another little boy, short for his age, a newcomer in a new land, learning of the tragedies our people have faced, wondering about the past, the future. 

And there is a little boy with his arms held up, his face is filled with fear, and behind him stands a German soldier with a rifle, the scene is Warsaw, 1943. 

And all these little boys combine into one. And I feel that all these little boys combine into me.
