Exodus Movement

Exodus, Movement of the people.
We all know the Biblical story of the Exodus. The nation of Israel, the Children of Israel, were enslaved in Egypt, they suffered terribly but ...they did nothing about it. A once proud people, the nation of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob were reduced to a humble and humiliating slavery. Daily, things got worse, daily the degradation increased, and yet...nothing happened. The cry went out to heaven, send us Brother Moses.
A child is born, he is called Moshe, or Moses. In ancient Egyptian this means, boy. A legend is woven, he is miraculously rescued, he is raised in the house of the Pharoah, the king, the ultimate ruler. He is not raised to think as a slave, but as a free man, we believe this is what was needed to break the cycle of slavery, a man born into freedom, not a slave mentality. I will not recount the story here; you can read it in the Biblical Book of Exodus. But one day young Moshe sees his people suffering, and his heart goes out to them, for he knows that he is in fact, one of them.
And here is a lesson, but first...
There are believers; there are religious Jews and Christians who will take every word of the Bible literally as the unquestioned word of God, that God sat and dictated every word to Moshe. And there are those who believe the entire story is pure fiction. And there are those in between.
There are those who believe it has a core of truth and developed as a legend passed down from generation to generation, and there are those that believe that Moshe is not an historical figure, but perhaps based on some historical event.
I will not get into that debate here, each according to his faith, each according to his belief.
But I will say this, Atheist, devout believer, or something in between, if a lesson survives four thousand years, that is a lesson worth listening to. So perk up your ears and listen!
For me, it is a lesson from the God of History, but that is not the key factor. As we say, God says, abandon me but do not abandon my book, do not forsake my teachings.
So this is not about belief, it is about wisdom.
Moshe sees the suffering of his people and he identifies with them. He sees an Egyptian taskmaster hitting a Hebrew, and he takes action and kills the evil taskmaster and buries him in the sand. Moshe stands up for justice, and in so doing he gives up his trust fund, his royal family, he becomes a wanted man. He becomes a refugee, a man on the run. And here is where Moshe begines to emerge as a great man, as a leader.
He has no family to lean on, no status, in the land of the Midianites he must start from scratch, prove himself, on his own merits. A man with no past. And then he is chosen, against his will, to lead a desperate people. But he himself lived as a refugee, as a wanted man, as an Unwanted man, a Persona non grata, an Untermensch. He is one with the unwanted, the unwelcome. and he will lead a people for whom it shall be written, behold a nation that dwells alone and among the nation of the world shall not be counted. (How true!)
Moshe understands, Moshe feels, Moshe knows. Moshe Rabeinu, Moshe our Teacher, our guide!
And the message becomes universal, for each and every one of us. And the Jamaican will echo this feeling in his own words, 3,700 years later

Yes, at some point, each and every one of us, must leave our personal Babylon and go on our own journey, to our own land, our own destiny.

Are you satisfied (with the life you're living)
It is time to Get Up Stand Up,
Get up, stand up
Stand up for your right
Don't give up the fight
Moshe suffers greatly, he faces challenges to his leadership, he is accused of seeking power and glory for himself, he is accused of stealing from the people. He wants to quit, but God does not allow him, for your mission is a holy one my son! Your destiny is a great one.
and in this story, we must all find a lesson, a very personal lesson. We must have the courage to leave our own personal Egypt, as they say in modern terms, think outside the box. We must have the Get up Stand up, in our own lives, we must pick up the fight, the struggle, the cause of personal freedom. Let freedom Ring throughout the land!!
It is time to leave Egypt; it is time to Move!
It is a call to arms for a nation of displaced souls on the march to a new spiritual homeland. It is a call to arms to you, nearly four thousand years later. The lesson is real.

When I lived in Brooklyn some called me Brother Moe, but we can all be our own savior, just Get Up Stand Up. Movement of Jah people. Man and people will fight you down, but if you are not wrong, then everything is all right, we the generation, such great tribulation. We all have tribulation, that is how it is meant to be. Don't ask for an easy life, nothing comes of it. Movement.
Exodus, open your eyes, are you satisfied? Know where you are going. know your calling, know your direction. Accept the Tribulations. in this Exodus. Movement, just keep moving.
Send us another Brother Moses, let us cross the Red Sea. Move!
Yes, Brother Moses is here and now it is time for you to Get up and Stand up, Move, Cross your own personal Red Sea, walk through your own personal desert. Set yourself free. Set the Captives free.
Each year we celebrate our Exodus, the holiday of Pesach, Passover, but we must not only remember, we must live it every day, in our own lives. The movement of Jah people.
Believe, take action, let me tell you, if you're not wrong, then everything is all right. So we gonna walk...through the roads of creation.
No one said it will be easy, and who wants easy. Send us another Brother Moses to inspire us. Get up Stand up, take back your own life. Leave your own Babylon, open your eyes, are you satisfied with the life you're living?
