Fast Track Krav Maga

One of the wonderful aspects of seminars is that I am constantly learning from the participants. I learn from their reactions to our techniques, which are different from most other styles of Krav Maga, and I learn from their questions. Here at our seminar in Italy I faced a usual challenge; we had veteran IKI instructors with years of experience, members who have not only been part of our Krav Maga online program for over a decade but also attended many IKI seminars worldwide. Alongside these veterans we had students with little to no martial arts experience. And, just to make it more challenging, we had participants who came from other styles of Krav Maga and would naturally have some ideas of their own of what works and what does not. Thus, I had to juggle these diverse elements, keep it simple enough for the beginners, challenging and interesting for the veterans, and convincing for those that come from other styles.

And all challenges have their rewards. One participant tried, briefly, to argue in favor of the old "360 Defense" used by many styles of Krav Maga. When I demonstrated how difficult it would be to implement this real-time against an aggressive opponent, he responded with, "but our instructor told us if you practice it thousands of times it will become natural and easy to use".

My response

1. I totally disagree. I believe, after years, decades, of research, that no matter how many times you practice this technique it will never work in a real-life violent situation as it is faulty by design. A bad song sung thousands of times does not become a good song.

2. You just answered your own question, let's say your instructor was correct, do you have the time to invest in this? Practice this one technique thousands of times? You are married, with a baby, with a full-time job, you don't have the time! You need something you can learn faster. The IKI Universal Block is the faster solution, and it takes moments to learn.

Most people who want to learn to defend themselves are ...interested in learning to defend themselves. and yet they are treated as martial artists, which they are not, and they have no desire to become. What is the difference? A martial artist is interested in martial arts, the style, the history, the tradition, the forms, the ranks and titles. They want to master a ryu, a style. But the average person who enquires about Krav Maga is not interested in someday holding a 4th dan black belt and a title. No, he or she is interested in surviving a violent attack, that is all.

With IKI Krav Maga our goal is that after your very first lesson you will already have improved your chances of survival by 100%. and this has happened, many times. At our seminar in Italy, I have seen people learn our basic self-defense techniques, not master everything, not learn the defense against every imaginable hostage situation or car jacking, but the basics to survive the vast majority of common attacks and the concepts to figure out the rest on their own, if need be.

All our techniques must meet the following criteria: Easy to Learn, Easy to Apply in diverse situations, and Easy to Remember.

You can learn this without being put in the hospital for three days, you can learn this without being challenged "Can you survive our training?", this is not meant to be a challenge, this is meant to be a way for people, ordinary people, to survive a violent attack. The perfect system for imperfect people. and as far as I know all humans are imperfect.
