At the airport there is a Fast Track, I love that! Skip the long arduous lines, skil the inch-by-inch stepping forward, life the life of luxury by cutting the lines and the hassles. It took me a lifetime to get there. The Fast Track, is great, save time, save the hassle, get to where you want to go faster. I have spent a lifetime trying to do this with self-defense, my chose method is what we call IKI Krav Maga.
Some of us are obsessed with martial arts. As a young student I purchased every martial arts magazine I could get my hands on, Black Belt Magazine, Inside Karate, Inside Kung Fu, Karate Illustrated, Chinese Martial Arts etc. I bought books on everything from Karate to Tai Chi to Zen to Bruce Lee. I purchased very video I could find. I attended Karate classes five times per week, plus Judo lesson, Kung Fu and whatever else I could find.
But not everyone is like this, and not every has the time. I made sacrifices, I lost jobs, missed job interviews, came late to weddings, showed up on blind dates with a black eye or swollen lips. But today when I look at students I cannot expect this. As my friend Gadi said to me many years ago, "Moshe, you are one in one thousand", that was not a compliment, it was a warning. Do not expect this kind of sacrifice from everyone, it is simply not possible, people have lives, school, jobs, families.
So we work on finding the Fast Track to self-defense, and while nothing is perfect, I think we have succeeded fairly well.
I am teaching a series of seminars in Vienna; I am impressed with the students. They are led by IKI Instructor Thanassi, himself a very talented martial artist, a devoted and gifted instructor. Some of the students I know from previous visits, but some are new to me. During the break I speak to them, there are three that I am thinking of in particular.
The first, M, a young slim woman, she is amazing. She is fighting off multiple attackers, punches, pushes, attempted takedowns, knife attacks, she is moving around, she is being a Hard Target. I speak with her during the break, this is her second lesson in IKI Krav Maga, yes, her second lesson. I am stunned.
I think of her later on, back in the hotel, I think to myself, this girl will not be an easy target, she will give any attacker a run for his money, she will be evasive, she will fight back. This is what IKI Krav Maga is all about.
There is P, he had five years of Krav Maga training in another facility, but he was not happy, and he eventually dropped it completely, until he found our school in Vienna, suggested by a friend. He has just returned, and he is amazing, everything is flowing so naturally, and he is similing, he has found what he was looking for, a self defense system that works with him rather than against him. He is now a force to contend with.
At the next session I meet K, also a young woman, perhaps early 20's, She is tiny but a powerhouse. She is blocking knife attacks and fighting back against larger and more powerful opponents. She is not disarming anyone, she is not turning anyone in a Zohan style pretzel (as in the movie Don't Mess with the Zohan), but she is fighting back, she too will never be a easy victim, she has become a Hard Target.
So I speak with her after class. How long has she been training? This is her first lesson. As a little girl she did have some karate training, and I am sure this contributed, but the defense she was doing tonight, was of a totally different nature.
Now these are all talented, coordinated young people. True. but without a good system, a Fast Track system, they would still be stuck in a Cat Stance or Horse stance, punching in the air for months. There is value in every system, but I feel these three prove the validity of our system. True, for a less coordinated person this would take longer, for an older person, for a person with a history of injuries, it would take longer, but the system proves itself, it is indeed a Fast Track.
I waited, and worked, my entire life to be eligible for the Fast Track at the airport, but you do not have to wait a lifetime to enjoy the Fast Track to self-defense, you can join us today and learn to protect yourself. One never knows what tomorrow will bring. Be prepared.
