Instant Black Belt Krav Maga

We award black belts after a long period of training, once a student has proven themselves. On our IKI Black Belt page we list the credentials, years of training, ranks in other styles, military service, number of years of training, seminars attended etc. of each and every black belt. No one earned or received their black belt after a weekend of training or after writing a fat check.
I do take personal factors into account, as I have learned from my own instructors over the years. A person of a certain age and certain disabilities may never be able to perform a high kick, or a kick to the head, so we will not disqualify him on that point. We expect candidates to understand the concepts and be able to apply them, not necessarily perform every single technique perfectly. A man of 80, and we do have those, can earn a black belt and not have to survive 40 minutes of full-contact fighting or be able to perform a back spinning jump kick. But we do have standards!
There have been those, many, who did not receive a rank when they wanted it. Sadly, they chose the easy path, quit IKI and joined a rival organization, they were "awarded" this rank almost immediately, or sooner, by other organizations, quick to pick up our leftovers, increase their membership and earn a quick buck.
Recently an individual contacted me about joining IKI. He did not express any interest in learning any new material, he did not inquire as to what makes IKI Krav Maga unique as the leading Krav Maga organization today, he did not ask where he can train, he had only one question: Can he skip the Yellow - Brown belt levels and just take the "Black Belt course"? I explained that we do not offer such an arrangement. He inquired a second time; I cut and paste and sent him the same reply. Yesterday I saw that he updated his profile picture on social media with the logo of a "leading federation" of Israeli martial arts, I will not list the organization in order not to publicly embarrass them.
That is not how we work. We are not a diploma factory. We are not interested in members who are only interested in ranks. Go elsewhere, there are unfortunately plenty of Krav Maga federations and associations that are more than happy to sell black belts. They have great looking logos and all sorts of "distinguished" members on their board of directors, but that means nothing.
