I just read that News Flash that the terrorists who took hostage some of our "Celeb Hostages", where all killed by the Israeli Defense Forces and Police. Great news. But is it really important?
My mother, may she rest in peace, had a very positive outlook, which I never shared. I recall when the "Muhandis", the "Engineer" was killed she was overjoyed, "We got him!" she proclaimed, I recall exactly where she stood when she said this. This was a man who earned his title from his expertise in creating bombs that killed Jews. I doubt if he had any university degree, but he earned his title by being an infamous terrorist.
And now, who remembers him? What impact did his death have? the answer, I say now as I said then, none whatsoever. By the time the news reached us, he was replaced, by someone even deadlier. And so it happens all the time.
They have endless replacements. We can say that whoever kills a Jew will be tracked down, no matter how long it takes, and will be eliminated. So what? Does this act as a deterrent? Not-at-all!
In fact, more follow in their footsteps. Hamas and Hizballah, are both gaining new members daily. Reports are that Hamas has as many fighters/terrorists as they had on October 7, 2023. The Arabs have no shortage of manpower, money, land, or time. We, on the other hand, do! and we are also limited by what the USA allows us to do, otherwise we get punished.
So the terrorists who took hostage, Argamani, Or and Mor, are dead. That is nice and as it should be, but so what? Our army and intelligence services failed to protect us, and they are now covering up their mistakes, so the lesson was not learned, but here is my point. Punishing bad guys is all good and nice, convicting Nazi war criminals 30 years after the war ended is just and nice, but what does it really accomplish? I feel it gives us, the victims, or it is supposed to give us a good feeling, so called closure, but not for me. I feel that is just a way to numb and dumb us, make us forget what we really need to learn. They got the bad guys, all is well! No, it is not well, not at all. The real danger is not being properly addressed.
For me the only lesson, the ONLY response is Prepare better for the next attack which we most certainly come!! That is my concern, not punishing past criminals and terrorists. Punishment after the fact accomplishes little, yes, it is always a great idea to eliminate the bad guys, but what if there are an endless supply of them? What we need to do is learn to prevent the next attack.
With IKI Krav Maga our goal is not to punish people after the fact, but to stop them in the process, to make sure they do not hurt us. That is why we train.
But do people pick up the mantle? Do they come to train? Do they take responsibilty for hteir own lives and safety?
The overwhelming answer is no, they do not. And we cannot help them. They have chosen ignorance and foolishness. They have chosen to ignore the warning; they have chosen humiliation and death.
I cannot help them.
