When Evil and Good Collide

Reflecting on the recent trip, the experiences, the stories, meeting with police, military, MMA EFC champions, boxing experts, people who have walked the walk, not just talked the talk. Everyone has something to contribute. While all humans are built the same, our thoughts, our cultures are not the same. One needs to understand crime, violence, brutality. From the townships of Soweto to the urban jungles of inner-city Durbin, to the gangs of New York and Los Angeles, to the cartels of South America, to the Hamas terrorists, one needs to listen and learn. It is not the same everywhere.

The plane is peaceful, thank God no violent outburst here, although that can happen as well. I am always on the lookout for violent passengers or Hostage-Taking terrorists. For the Guardian of Israel neither sleeps nor slumbers. (although I did doze off on the plane after being awake all night in Johannesburg).

It is difficult to deal with violence when you do not understand the other person, the attacker. We tend to think others are like us, it takes a great deal of effort to understand the other. When I was a child, I recall Prime Minister Golda Meir referring to Jewish-American Secretary of State Henry Kissinger, He is a wonderful gentleman, his major flaw is that he thinks the rest of the world is made up of equally wonderful gentlemen.

News Flash - It is not.

Kissinger did not truly understand the Arabs way of thinking, we too failed, (i.e. those in charge) and the result was the attempted Holocaust that began October 7, 2023, and was meant to last longer. Now more Israelis have WOKEen up.

In South Africa I listened and I learned, our techniques must match the reality of the brutality they face. I need to understand this. I need to be a student of human behavior, of psychology. I need to understand the perpetrators and the Victims, I need to understand, as best as I can, what it means to be dragged to the forest and raped by five men over a period of 24 hours and then let those in the middle of nowhere, minus your clothing.

I need to know, to understand.

As a Jew from a solid family I was raised to give, the world we live in, the life we lead is about giving. My dear mother, may she rest in peace was in charge of several volunteer organizations, they provided help for immigrants, from the former Soviet Union and for those from Ethiopia. She helped out the needy. She taught English in the school system, and privately. She never received a penny. When she was lying in the Hospice bed, days away from leaving this earth, barely able to speak, there was a call from one of the schools, the children send their best wishes and wanted her to come back and teach them again. She said, again and again, I guess I did make a difference!

Yes, you did Mom, you certainly made a difference, in so many lives, You taught us that this life is about Giving to others, sharing our blessings, you gave and gave until the Cancer no longer permitted you to give. Life is about giving, helping others.

But you told us that what you did was little compared to your mother, my dear grandmother, who was in charge of Kosher Meals on Wheels, who brought food to those homebound elderly who could not get out. And she helped refugees and immigrants, when a family came from Hungary after the revolutions in 1958, she went to members of the congregation and Demanded help; you own a furniture store, you WILL give them a closet, you own an electrical Applicance store, you WILL give them a stove. When the family arrived, they were fully equipment and welcomed to their new home and embraced by the holy congregation of Israel. This is how we do it!

But not everyone is like us. and we must understand that.

There are givers and there are takers. The Takers believe the world owes them something. If others have, and they have not, they believe they have the right to take it, and Might makes Right, so they use brute force, intimidation, terror!

They come to homes that they did not build, they tie up entire families, they commit rape and other atrocities, no, we are not the same. They feel they are owed something in this life. Worthless human refuse take the finest and brightest lives, by force. And we must not allow this to happen.

We must understand how they think, they are Takers, by Force. and only Force will stop them. Yes, we believe in education, yes, we believe in providing opportunities, but until that Utopia is achieved, we must be prepared, for the Guardian of Israel cannot rest. And that applies to all of us.

As the Good Book teaches, pray for peace but plan for war, A Horse ready for Battle, but the Victory is to the Lord. (Proverbs, Chapter 21, 31)
