I Wish I Could Have Done More

Violence can change your life, forever. Once it happens, it cannot be undone, it can only be learned from. In Israel we have an expression now; be an October 6 person, not an October 8 person. This refers of course to the atrocities committed against the people of Israel on October 7, 2023, and the war in which we are still actively engaged. Be the person who is training before the tragedy happens, don't be the person who wakes up after the tragic event and realizes that he was living a lie before then.

Many Israelis and many Jews were living a lie before October 7. This lie consisted in disrespecting our enemies and attributing to them our own qualities and values rather than recognizing that they have a very different world view. While Israelis were flying Kites for Peace, our enemies where learning how to attach bombs to kites and drones. They were preparing for the invasion of Israel and the massacre that followed.

I have been preparing for war my entire life. I am an October 6 person and have been pleading with others to listen. I have used the pages of this blog to reach out to people. I have devoted my life to trying to wake up the sleepy heads who live in la la Fantasy land.

I recently watched a program about a violent rape that took place at the home of a well-known actress. She and a friend were rapped at gun point while her husband was forced to watch. I will not go into detail, and I am not trying to blame anyone, but the husband offered words that entered my consciences. He said these profound words, "I wish I could have done more".

Well, indeed. More? He did nothing as far as I could understand. The female victim went on to raise awareness and speaks of these events often, and the husband? Did he begin training in Krav Maga? Did he start to raise awareness for the need for self-defense training? No.

We all need to think about this statement; I wish I could have done more. Well, you can! You can do more and you should do more. and you can start right away. Anne Frank, a Jewish victim of the Holocaust, commented that the great thing is you can start making the world a better place right now. You do not need to wait.

Why don't you honor her memory and begin your training today. Or do you prefer to watch your wife being raped at gun point while you stand there helplessly trying to remember the reason you never trained? Are you an October 6 person or the pathetic October 8 person? Do you want to live your life with the statement I wish I could have done more, or do you want to start doing more NOW while you can still prevent the violence?

The choice is yours.
