During my service in the Israel Defense Forces

The question still comes up; can I offer certification in Military Krav Maga? And the answer is always the same, there is no such thing as Military Krav Maga. It is "Fake News." Be careful what you believe. And yet, most instructors will answer, Sure! (If you are willing to pay I will certify you in Clown Krav Maga, whatever, as long as your money is good).

There is only Krav Maga, not Civilian, not Women, not Military, not Firemen etc., and we apply it to various life situations. The situations one may face are unlimited!

You can be in a car, in a bar, near or far.

You can be here or there, or anywhere.

You can be in a plane, in a train, in the rain, at a baseball game.

You can be alone or with friends, you can be at work or at play, at night or at day.

You can face one attacker or a gang, armed or unarmed, you can be wearing a suit, a zoot or high heel boots.

You can be the pilot, the driver, the passenger, at the gas station, at the minimarket, in a mini-skirt, at the supermarket.

The possibilities for what you might face are unlimited but the techniques you can learn and remember are very limited. 

Thus we take a different approach: We learn concepts and simple techniques that can be applied and adjusted to meet our needs in a multitude of situations.

Yes, circumstances do vary. If you are in the military there are certain rules that must be adhered to. Facing an attacker in a bar is different from facing a terrorist, you cannot respond the same way. What you can do is use the same concepts but apply them based on the given situation. That is what we are all about, the applications.

Yes, Circumstances dictate responses, that is why we use the concept of AAPC: Avoidance, Ability, Purpose, Circumstances.

The AAPC model helps us know how to respond, to stay or to turn, to fight or to escape, to control or to destroy the opponent. There are legal, moral and survival implications.  Imagine if we had to gain certification in 

  • Civilian Krav Maga
  • Military Krav Maga
  • Police Krav Maga
  • Women Krav Maga
  • Teenage Krav Maga
  • Teenage mutant Ninja Krav Maga
  • Seniors, old age, Krav Maga
  • Office Workers Krav Maga
  • Security personal Krav Maga
  • Airline security Krav Maga
  • Pilot Krav Maga
  • Doorman Krav Maga
  • VIP Protection Krav Maga
  • Doctor's Krav Maga (Yes, they too face unique situations for which they must be prepared)
  • Teachers Krav Maga (they face many challenging situations, from students, and from parents, and of course from outside intruders). 
  • Church, or Synagogue, Krav Maga
  • and so on and so forth...

Now of course each situation must be addressed and we apply our Krav Maga techniques and concepts to each situation. Our man in Australia, Pat, takes our Krav Maga and applies it night after night to the situations he faces while manning the door and being in charge of security at the pubs. In another country the rules may be different, in another bar the situation might be different. The possibilities are unlimited. 

There are organizations that will offer specific certifications in each of these areas, Why? The answer is simple; it is very profitable. We prefer to give you the tools, under one simple heading "Krav Maga", and we will help you apply them to all possible situations and circumstances.

We have trained airline pilots and they have recreated for us the conditions of the cockpit. We have worked with professional drivers. Now take for example drivers: Now take drivers for example; how many cars are the same? Cars and trucks come in all sizes. If each specific area required a specific Krav Maga certification then we would also have a sperate course for cars, and trucks, of every size and shape. Does that make sense? No, we just earn one drivers license for all cars, and an additional certification for commercial trucks. 

We believe we teach you the concepts and then help you apply them to your car, or your house, or whatever you may face. Perhaps we should just call our style "Honest Krav Maga".   

It is like life itself; your parents and your teachers will never be able to know what you will face in the years ahead, including the years after they have passed from this life. All they can do is teach you, guide you, so that when face those situations you will have the wisdom to respond correctly.

Teach your students well, guide them, so that when you are no longer here, they will know how to handle themselves.
